Building on a custom laser control system previously developed for the interactive installation "Slow light" (below), this series is an exploration of transference, wherein sonic properties such as frequency and interval (pitch and time/rhythm) are used to control the motion of high-intensity light on photosensitized fabric. The residual image is generated by the behavior and interaction of the sound itself: frequency, waveform, cross-modulation, and duration determine the laser’s trajectory and, consequently, how light accumulates on the photosensitized surface. This series asks how an ephemeral, time-based phenomenon can acquire a static, durable form; the images do not simply depict sound; they materialize its evolving morphology, allowing movement, interference, and duration to leave physical traces.

Slow Light is inspired by bioluminescent algae and how they react by emitting light when their cells are activated by movement. The installation projects a voronoi field--a mathematical model for a particular "reaction diffusion"--and contains visual cells that lose shape and deform according to the movements captured by the webcam. As the audience gets closer, a laser traces their contour over the projection.
